Cam Ward Gets Sliced Again
It happened before at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers a few years ago.
It happened again on Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It’s hard to believe with all of the injuries this season, to not only goalies but forwards as well, that millions of fans, reporters, analysts, general managers, players and coaches are still in favor of streamlining goalie equipment. It’s ridiculous.
Cam Ward, get well soon. And come back strong in the second half of the season like you always do. Put the Hurricanes in the playoffs and silence your critics once again.

I'm sure they came with thigh boards, but almost all NHL goalies remove
them. As do most goalies in general, I believe. Personally I think thigh
boards are very annoying and just get in the way. It looks like Nash just
had a lot of momentum heading through the crease and when that skate came up
around his thigh, it found a way to sneak under the pants flap and slice him
good. Ward has to do something about his pants/knee protection setup because
this happened to him a few years ago vs. the Rangers.

Aren't those Vaughn's Wardo wears supposed to have pretty thick thigh boards? Or did Nash just get him in the worst spot?
