Do You Struggle Against Weaker Opponents?

Have you ever been standing at one end of the ice watching a goaltender who is technically weaker than you, but for some reason, instead of playing up to your level you end up playing down to the other goalie’s level? One common area where goalies often struggle is that of when they are playing against a weaker opponent; especially a weaker goaltender.

The worst part of this is that this change in performance is often not identified by the goaltender until after the game. There can ultimately be multiple reasons why a goaltender fails to play up to their level, however for this article, I am only going to focus on the two factors that most often lead to a goaltender who fails to play at their best against weaker opponents: motivation and focus.
