Remember back in August when we posted a story about hockey fans everywhere having a chance to help Tuukka Rask design his new mask for the 2010 Winter Classic?

Well, the time has finally come to reveal the completed helmet. And thanks to our good friends over at Pro’s Choice custom goalie masks, we’re excited to have some first-glimpse images of Rask’s new Winter Classic mask.

As you could imagine, this is easily our nomination for the Mask of the Week!

The mask is a custom-molded Pro’s Choice and incorporates aspects of the Boston Red Sox and the Green Monster at Fenway Park. It also includes a shredded New York Yankees jersey, something any Boston sports fan can enjoy. (Hi-larious!) The mask is pretty simple from there, complimented with one of the signature Pro’s Choice Tri-Cat Cage decked out in solid gold.

Painted by local mask artist Luke Dobie, the mask includes a fierce Bruin busting out of the Green Monster and a Bruins logo on either side.  The overall design is a simple one, but born from different influences by Rask, the fans’ entries and a brainstorming session between Dobie and Pro’s Choice founder Dom Malerba.

On either side of the mask is a different version of the Bruins’ logo. The left side has the current logo and the right side is a more traditional version. “Rask” is written across the chin drop in gold-leaf with a black outer stroke and white interior stroke. If you look closely, you can see icicles hanging off the bottom of his last name.

We think this mask is an excellent and simplistic, yet detailed design. We love the white base on the bottom and the local appeal with the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park imagery. Any Boston sports fan will love this mask, as it also appeals to the city’s rivalry with their favorite team to hate, the Yankees.

Please check out more photos of the mask right here at Pro’s Choice and a special thanks to Paul and Luke for allowing us to publish these photos for our members and readers to see! Don’t forget our Medieval Mask Design Contest ends on Friday during the NHL Winter Classic! Deadline for entries is Midnight MDT tomorrow night!
