The Periodic Table of Goaltending Elements was originally created in 2011 by Justin Goldman. It was later revised and updated in the summer of 2014. Then, in April of 2017, Goldman joined forces with designer Kathy Polo to transform the infographic into a full-color learning book, a wall-sized poster, and a set of flash cards for multiple educational uses. Thanks to the support of over 80 backers on Kickstarter, the book was brought to life during the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs and then published independently.
Available starting July 1 of 2017, this full-color paperback book includes definitions for 131 of the most commonly-used terms, techniques, tactics, and fundamental skills that make up the goaltending position. These simple, easy-to-read definitions were combined with a handful of valuable workbook assignments and reflection sheets in order to promote further learning in both group and individual settings.
Whether you’re brand new to the game of hockey or you’re a seasoned veteran that loves breaking down the science, math, and mental traits of being a puck stopper, this book is a perfect way to celebrate and promote the goaltending community.
More importantly, 25% of the proceeds for every book sold goes right back to The Goalie Guild’s nonprofit foundation! Those dollars will help support our annual scholarships and creative projects, which reach thousands of goalies every day and alleviate the rising costs associated with training and development.
